In the February 25, 2023, presidential election, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee, charged that President Bola Tinubu’s charges of identity theft and forgery were handled lightly by the Supreme Court.

Obi stated this on Monday in Abuja at an international press conference.

The Supreme Court’s decision, according to the former governor of Anambra State, was an act of force directed at Nigerians.

Obi said, “The Supreme Court abandoned its responsibility as a court of law. The court decision contravenes the overwhelming evidence of election rigging, the false calm of technical glitches, as well as matters of forgery and identity theft as been brought to light.

“These are hefty allegations that should not have been treated with levity. The Supreme Court transferred a heavy moral burden from the courtroom to our national conscience, our democracy is the victim of this courtroom drama.

“It’s a show of unreasonable force against the very Nigerian people from whom the power of the constitution is drawn.
