Presidential Amnesty Program Empowers Niger Delta Ex-Agitators as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

In a significant development, twenty former agitators from the Niger Delta region have embarked on a five-week mandatory training program to become certified aircraft maintenance engineers. This initiative is part of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and is aimed at equipping individuals from the region with the skills and qualifications needed for a successful career in aviation.

The PAP Interim Administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu (retd.), announced this important step towards certification and licensing in a statement. These beneficiaries are part of a larger group of 75 pilots enrolled in the PAP Aviation Resuscitation Programme for ex-agitators hailing from the Niger Delta region.

The first batch of 20 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers successfully completed their training on October 31, 2023, marking a significant achievement for the program.

General Ndiomu emphasized that the commencement of training for the second batch represents another promise fulfilled by his administration. He highlighted the global aviation industry’s rapid expansion and the growing emphasis on manpower development. Through this specialized program, the PAP aims to supply the global aviation industry with skilled professionals, further underscoring its commitment to the career advancement of individuals from the Niger Delta region.
