Bayelsa: Hoodlums Attack INEC Official, NYSC Member, Cart Away Original Result Sheets

The off-cycle governorship election in Bayelsa State was marked by violence, with hoodlums allegedly attacking ad-hoc personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to news reports, the criminal action was carried out by suspected thugs.

Thugs stole election materials, including the BVAS for Ward 1, Unit 23 in Onopa, Yenagoa Local Government Area.

Armed thugs also stole the bags and other possessions of corps members engaging in electoral activities.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent confirmed the event and stated that the collation and sorting of ballots were in progress when the armed thugs rushed the unit.

Fortunately, no one was hurt as a result of the incident.

Thugs allegedly disrupted the election process in another section of the state, notably Ward 11 of Opume and Emakalakala in the Ogbia Local Government area, by targeting polling units 14, 15, and 19.

However, Anaedoonline.ng discovered that some results had already been recorded prior to the disruption.

Similarly, armed thugs took away the original result sheets of polling units 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 from Ward 3 in the Olodiama community of the Southern Ijaw Local Government area.
