INEC Announces Release of Abducted Supervisor in Bayelsa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported on Saturday that one of its Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPO) who was abducted on the eve of the governorship election in Bayelsa State has been released. The victim, who was abducted at the Amassoma jetty in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, has been confirmed to be in good condition.

Wilfred Ifogah, Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity at the INEC office in Bayelsa State, issued a statement expressing gratitude to all stakeholders and concerned citizens for their efforts in ensuring the safe release of the officer.

The incident had been a cause for concern ahead of the election, and INEC had promptly notified security agencies about the abduction. The release of the SPO is a positive development, and it is expected to contribute to the overall smooth conduct of the governorship election in Bayelsa State.
