Following the governor’s victory in the state’s November 11 gubernatorial election, hundreds of supporters of Governor Hope Uzodinma rushed into Owerri, the state capital, on Sunday.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday morning that Uzodimma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had won the polls with 540,308 votes, besting his nearest competitors, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party, who received 71,503 and 64081 votes, respectively, to finish a distant second and third.
