Five persons were slain when wanted notorious cultist David Gift, also known as 2Baba, and his group raided Odemerenyi Community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State. They are suspected of planning the murder of SP Bako Angbashim, the district police officer of Ahoada Police Division.
The cultists reportedly ambushed and attacked a police patrol team in the neighbourhood before launching a surprise attack on the defenceless homeowners who were inside their rooms.
Remember that the dare-devil cultist was the target of a N100 million bounty issued by the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara. However, since the governor made his announcement, there has been no progress in capturing the group’s main commanders.

But on Sunday, at around 1:00 am, the murderous cult members broke into the neighbourhood and began killing people at random.
A local resident informed Newsmen that the cultists who broke into the village killed his brother before moving on to kill more people.
He clarified that all five individuals were killed in the same neighbourhood, naming Obobula, also known as Bestman, Chibuogwu, Idaokwa, and Ekwushi, as some of the victims.
According to the source, following the deaths, the accused cultists informed the community that their release from custody, along with that of some of the chiefs, was the only thing needed for them to cease their killings.
It said: “The cultists are 2baba and his group. It was around past 1:00 am in the night. We were all in the room around that time when we heard footsteps moving all around. The dogs started barking.

“Before we knew it, my younger brother asked who they were. One of them responded that they were the ones that had come to kill everybody if they didn’t release the people in police custody, including the Chief and their sympathizers.
“That if they don’t do it, they are not going to stop killing. Before my brother started to begin them, they shot him. They pounced two doors in the compound and shot other of my brothers.
“They went to another compound and shot another person. They went into the community and shot others. Five persons were killed.”
The source said: “We are tired of facing this kind of thing. Everybody is like we don’t know what to do again.
“We are pleading with the government to please come and help us out. The action was too much this morning. If the government does not intervene, we are in trouble. The government should set us free from these people.”
