UPDATE: Court Stops Anyanwu From Parading As PDP National Secretary

Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been directed by an Abuja Federal Capital Territory High Court to stop impersonating the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretary.

The order was the result of a lawsuit that sought an interlocutory injunction to prevent the PDP from appointing Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary while the main lawsuit was being resolved.

Douglas Nwachukwu is the complainant in the complaint filed under the file number FCT/HC/M/015/23. The defendants are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP (Anyanwu).

Judge M.M. Adamu stopped Anyanwu from impersonating the PDP National Secretary after hearing a motion on notice from applicant’s attorney, F. S. Jimba.

In addition, Adamu prevented Anyanwu from being recognised as the National Secretary by the PDP and INEC until the outcome of the substantive lawsuit was known.

The case was postponed until January 24, 2024, so that the substantive lawsuit could be heard.

Anaedoonline.ng stated that In the recently finished Imo State election, Anyanwu was the PDP’s candidate for governor, but he was defeated by Hope Uzodinma, the candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC.

On Tuesday, though, he returned to his position in the party’s National Secretariat as National Secretary.
