22 Justices Nominated For Elevation To Supreme Court (See Full List)

A list of the 22 justices of the Court of Appeal nominated by the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) for the Supreme Court has been sent to the National Judicial Council (NJC).

The names of the nominees, who are citizens of different parts of the nation, were disclosed in a FJSC document that journalists were able to access on Thursday, according to Naija News.

There are six nominees from the North-Central region, and two each from the South-West and South-South regions. There are two nominees from the North-East and six from the South-East. This development follows Justice Amina Augie’s retirement, which reduced the number of sitting judges on the Supreme Court to 11.

The number of judges of the highest court was reduced to 11 as Justice Amina left the bench at the obligatory retirement age of 70.
