Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has ordered the remand of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, in Kuje prison pending the determination of his bail request. The ruling on his bail motion is scheduled for November 22.

Emefiele’s lead counsel, Mathew Burkaa SAN, moved the bail application, which was opposed by Rotimi Oyedepo on behalf of the Federal Government.

After hearing arguments from both parties, Justice Muazu stated that he needed time to study the authorities cited and examine the exhibits presented by Emefiele in support of his bail request. As a result, a bench ruling was deferred until November 22.

At present, Emefiele will remain in Kuje prison until the court makes a decision on his bail application.
