The Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) has created a shortlist of 22 justices for the Nigerian Supreme Court bench, however the National Judicial Council (NJC) has stated that it is unaware of this list.

Barrister Soji Oye, the Director of Information for NJC, stated that he is unaware of the nomination.

According to reports, the FJSC sent a list of 22 justices from the Court of Appeal to the NJC for possible elevation to the highest court.

The FJSC list, which was made public on Thursday, revealed the regional distribution of the nominees: North-West has four nominees, South-Central and South-East have six apiece, and North-East, South-West, and South-South have two each.
