Nobody Can Stop Me From Demanding Release Of Nnamdi Kanu – Aguocha

In order to secure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom, the member representing the federal constituency of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has vowed to withstand intimidation.

Aguocha made it clear that intimidation would not stop him from pursuing the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from unjustified detention.

Speaking at the grand finale of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abia State Council’s 2023 Press Week of the Correspondents Chapel, held at the Aguiyironsi Conference Centre in Umuahia, Representative Aguocha claimed that Kanu is a direct constituent of his, which is why he is demanding Kanu’s release.

Reps C’ttee Calls For Release Of Nnamdi Kanu

Rep. Aguocha stated that he will not be intimidated into remaining silent on behalf of his constituents as he related a recent altercation with service chiefs on Kanu’s protracted and unlawful arrest.

The congressman argued that Kanu’s prolonged detention is a contributing factor to the Southeast’s growing insecurity and urged the federal government to take into consideration the mounting calls for Kanu’s release.

He emphasised that freeing Kanu would help identify others in the South East who are committing crimes under the pretence of Biafra movement.

He said: “Kanu should be released so that peace can return to the southeast. The level of insecurity in the South East is alarming, and everybody has been pointing at Kanu’s continued detention.

“So, why not release him in compliance with court orders? When he is released, we will then know those hiding under the agitation to unleash mayhem in our land”.

Nigeria Will Die If Nnamdi Kanu Is Not Released From Detention – IPOB

The lawmaker called on reporters to show bravery by boldly confronting authority with the truth, regardless of the possible repercussions.

Journalists should not be scared to speak out in the future, he said.

He urged on journalists to report with objectivity and facts, characterising the press as an essential component of democracy.
