Ondo Politics: Tinubu Wades Into Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa’s Crisis

According to reports, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, are at odds, and President Bola Tinubu has intervened.

Remember how important elders and traditional leaders in the state had pleaded with President Tinubu to step in and resolve the political impasse in order to prevent impending chaos?

After hearing the leaders of the South West state’s request, the president has called the Ondo Assembly members to Abuja on Friday.

Oladiji Olamide, the speaker for Ondo, confirmed the meeting with President Tinubu in an interview with The Nation. He stated that the meeting’s outcome would dictate the course of action to be taken.

Oladiji stated that Aiyedatiwa was to be declared Acting Governor on Friday rather than Declaring Akeredolu disabled.

The speaker stated that the meeting with President Tinubu would be held on Friday afternoon.

He said: “Our sitting was to declare Aiyedatiwa as Acting Governor. The Governor is still alive.”

Eleven politicians in the Ondo Assembly now back Aiyedatiwa, causing a rift in the legislature. The parliamentarians were contacted by external influences.

There were rumours circulating that the 11 members had pushed for the Friday legislative session.

The sitting was a part of the preparations devised in Abuja with the 11 lawmakers to declare Governor Akeredolu incapable and declare Aiyedatiwa Governor, a politician who begged to remain anonymous informed The Nation.
