In protest of the Appeal Court ruling that dismissed Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) overran the Kano Police Headquarters.
The female party members who protested what they perceived as an injustice by the appellate court by marching on the police headquarters in Kano.
Despite the state’s police chiefs’ warnings against protests, these women, dressed in their hundreds, carried signs with a variety of messages and marched on Sunday from the party’s presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso’s home to the police headquarters.

They are demanding justice and maintaining that the North-West state’s governorship election in March was won by Governor Yusuf.
As the protests went on, some of them even became spiritual.
The latest demonstration, which occurred around a week following the court’s decision, is the third since the state’s governor was fired by the Appeal Court for what it deemed to be his ineligibility to run for office.
The court ruled that Yusuf’s fielding by the party violated the Electoral Law since he lacked the necessary qualifications to run in that vote.
As a result, it announced Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the exercise’s winner.
However, the NNPP and Governor Yusuf have already disregarded the ruling and are planning to appeal it in the Supreme Court.

The state’s governing APC was overthrown by Governor Yusuf, who declared it a “miscarriage of justice.”
