Recall that on Monday, Shaibu’s reservation to utilise the Government Reserved Area facility in Benin City, the state capital, to announce his candidature for governor, was cancelled by the hotel management.

The Deputy Governor was allegedly informed by the hotel manager that the “Obaseki finishing well group” had already paid for the same space.

The deputy governor said that the cancellation of the hotel reservation was the result of a senior appointee of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday.

Shaibu claimed that if he was permitted to use the location for his declaration of governorship, the governor’s appointee threatened to cancel the hotel’s Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and demolish the building.

Shaibu went on to say that his desire to become governor is personal and that his commitment to his principal is unwavering.

The deputy governor claimed that because he is loyal, he moved out of Government House and didn’t go to court to confirm that his move was lawful.
