No person or organisation, according to Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State, can thwart his goal to become governor.

Shaibu made this claim on Tuesday in an interview for Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Shaibu claimed that since he consulted God before announcing his intention to run for governor, only God had the power to put an end to his dreams of becoming governor.

Shaibu claims that the state’s residents want him to run for governor because they want an authentic homeboy.

He said: “My people want me to contest for governorship. They need an original homeboy.

“They need people who can bring governance to their doorstep, and they know I have experience, having worked in both legislative and executive positions.”

Recall that on Monday in the state capital of Benin, the deputy governor announced his intention to run for governor.

Since it became known that he intended to succeed his principal, Shaibu claimed to have faced pressure, humiliation, and persecution.

The deputy governor said that he had been severely injured but not destroyed, saying that despite being pushed, he had not been crushed.

Shaibu opened his campaign office in Benin City, the state capital, following his formal declaration, before an enthusiastic crowd of party members and supporters.
