Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, has congratulated Victor Osimhen, the sensational Nigerian football player, for winning the coveted Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Player of the Year title.
Osimhen, 24, won this award as a result of his exceptional play during Napoli’s victorious Serie A season.
The prolific striker for the Super Eagles was a major factor in Napoli’s league title win, scoring an amazing 26 goals in 32 league games.
With six goals from ten games after the 14th gameweek, Osimhen’s goal-scoring ability is still fearsome in 2023–24 despite a difficult start to the season.

Football greats like Rafael Leao, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have all won the AIC Player of the Year award before.
Expressing his delight, Obi wrote on his X platform, “I would like to heartily congratulate our own International superstar, @victorosimhen9, who just won the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Player of the Year award for the 2022/23 Serie A Season.”
“My mission is to see a New Nigeria where every youth will have the platform to explore their talents, develop their skills, contribute to national development and compete effectively on the global stage,” he concluded.
