DSS to Start Manufacturing Drones, Ak-47s, Other Weaponry

Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) has said that it will begin producing its own drones, AK-47s, and other weapons. These are known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

This was disclosed by Yusuf Bichi, the Director-General of the Secret Police, during the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 16 graduation ceremony held in Abuja.

Bichi announced that the staff-produced weaponry will be revealed shortly. Indicating that the Secret Service will soon station UAVs and other self-produced weaponry across the nation, he underlined that the DSS will start to “produce what it eats and eat what it produces.”

“In fact, sooner or later we shall start eating what we produce, and we produce what we eat. This is coded. It means we shall start deploying some of the assets we have or the platforms we produce by ourselves, including Unmanned Area Vehicles. We are producing our own AK-47,” he stated.

According to Bichi, the goal of this programme is to lessen the nation’s substantial reliance on other nations for its armaments as well as the substantial costs associated with acquiring them. He gave his word that the DSS will keep supplying reliable intelligence to other security organisations.

“When we reach the destination, we will save the country from the pains of the resources being chunked out to buy such weapons,” he said.

“We shall continue to appreciate all the agencies that partner with us in the journey so far. And I promise the other security agencies that the DSS will continue to provide you with proactive intelligence to drive your operations intelligence. We have achieved that in different parts of the country,” he added.
