Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, acting through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Dodoh Okafor, has strongly refuted claims that he ordered the arrest of those who were invited to Umuahia under the pretext of alleged peace negotiations in reaction to a widely shared social media post.

Dodoh Okafor, clarified, “Governor Alex Otti did not at any time order the arrest of anyone or group of people in connection with any remote or immediate event.”

The dispute is based on allegations that the arrests happened after Port Harcourt Road in Aba’s renovation officially got underway. The Otti government shares former Imo State Governor Sam Mbakwe’s belief that rebuilding the road is essential to the state’s economic revival.

Okafor declared, “These agents of division must be made to know that Abians are now wiser and shall never allow anyone or group to mislead them with concocted tales,” dismissing claims of protests and an invitation to Umuahia as unfounded.

He emphasised that Governor Otti will not waver in his resolve to restore public infrastructure, deal with flooding concerns, and create an atmosphere that is conducive to business.

The Otti government asked people to consider the intentions of “mischievous characters” who want to create rifts.

Furthermore, Okafor emphasised that the public’s support is not taken for granted and reiterated Governor Otti’s steadfast commitment to steering Abia in a progressive direction.
