Due to a dispute over production quotas, Angola said on Thursday that it intended to leave the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

The decision comes after the cartel recently decided to further reduce output for the coming year, as AFP reported today.

“Angola has decided to leave. We think the time has come for our country to be more focused on our goals,” Mineral Resources and Petroleum Minister Diamantino Azevedo told state broadcaster TPA.
