‘He is Operating as Though He is President’ – Ex-adviser Slams Wike

Former special adviser to former governor Nyesom Wike on labour relations and inter-party matters, Chris Itamunola, levelled strong charges against his former boss, claiming that Wike is acting as president and manipulating a crisis in Rivers State to bring down Sim Fubara’s administration.

Itamunola made this statement during a recent appearance on Arise TV’s morning show. He was forthright in his criticism of Wike’s conduct, specifically accusing him of inciting strife inside the state.

He raised doubts about the veracity of documents purportedly coming from the president and emphasised the need for institutions to retain control over specific individuals.

Itamunola emphasised that agreements cannot be based on illegality as a lawyer with 36 years of expertise, regardless of who executed them.

He stated, “Once a transaction is a breach of the statute, it won’t matter who executed it.

“What I know as a lawyer for about 36 years is an agreement cannot be founded by illegality. Once a transaction is a breach of the statute, it won’t matter who executed it.

“I weep. If indeed it is true that such a document emanated from a presidency. Our institutions must be made not to be stronger than persons,” he emphasised.
