The dead toll from the Christmas Eve attacks in the state has grown to nearly 115, according to information released by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Mutfwang made a statement on Tuesday while appearing on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.

As he charged the security personnel with identifying the “carnage’s” financiers and their ruthless foot soldiers, he declared that the attacks were unprovoked.

The terrifying simultaneous attacks on Christmas eve by attackers on more than fifteen communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the state were covered by Anaedoonline.ng.

On Sunday night, while they slaughtered the occupants, the terrorists wrecked residences, plundered farm produce, and set fire to a number of dwellings.

“Just when we had finished preparations for Christmas, unprovoked attacks were unleashed on our communities.

“As I am talking to you, in Mangu Local Government alone, we buried 15 people. As at this morning, in Bokkos, we are counting over 100 corpses. Not to talk of that of Barkin-Ladi,” a sombre-faced Mutfwang narrated.

The attackers’ goal was to destroy the people’s morale and overthrow both local governments, but the governor, who called the acts “unprecedented and monumental,” said they were unmoved.
