Igwe Nnewi Builds Multimillion Naira ICT Center For Nnewi Teaching Hospital (Photos)

As part of activities marking the 98th birthday and 60th Ofala festival of the Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Orizu (III), the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) center built by the traditional ruler has been commissioned.

The ICT center built by the Traditional Ruler for the use of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, was commissioned today, 27th December, 2023, at the Permanent Site of the Hospital in Akamili-Umudim Nnewi.

Speaking during the commissioning and handing-over of the ICT Center which was named after him, the Traditional Ruler said that the building was part of his own contribution to the development of the permanent site of the hospital.

While thanking those who gave him financial support during the building of the center, Igwe Nnewi emphasized the need for individuals who are passionate about development to take up projects in the hospital, noting that he is looking forward for the day Nnewi will become a place for medical tourism.

Appreciating the Traditional Ruler, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja praised the Traditional Ruler for his support since the inception of the hospital. He said that the Traditional Ruler was the person that attracted the hospital in Nnewi, and has been supportive since he emerged as the CMD of the hospital, especially as it regards the development of the permanent site.

He said that through the support of the Traditional Ruler, who he revealed visits the hospital on a regular basis, he has been able to attract and build a lot of projects in the hospital. As a way of appreciation, he said that the hospital has named a newly built 1km road inside the hospital as Igwe Orizu Avenue.

On his part, the Transition Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Chris Obiora who also represented the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, expressed appreciation to the Traditional Ruler, for the gigantic project, which he described as a plus to the numerous achievements of the Traditional Ruler.

He said the Governor who was unavoidably absent, is super excited over the project, which according to him, will add value to the reputation of the hospital.

Also, the Former Governor of Anambra State, Her Excellency, Dame Virgy Etiaba, who also spoke during the commissioning of the ICT center, while congratulating the monarch said that, despite the age of the monarch, he is still at the forefront of ensuring that Nnewi develops in all areas.

The Chief Executive Officer of Chikason Group, Chief Dr. Alexander Chika Okafor who was also present, praised the monarch for initiating and completing the project, noting that he will continue to support the monarch, who is passionate about the development of Nnewi.

The brief ceremony also included the commissioning of the 1km Igwe Orizu Avenue, attracted different notable personalities from Nnewi, which includes, the Traditional Ruler of Umudim Nnewi, His Highness, Obi Benneth Okafor (Amaukwu), the Lawmaker representing Nnewi in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Sir. Augustine Ikeh, the President-General of Nnewi, Chief Dr. Maduka Atuenyi, and Crown Prince of Nnewi, Prince Dr. Obi Orizu.

Others are, Dame Dr. Esom Nwafor-Orizu (Adakaibeya), Chief Engr. Chukwuemeka Nzewi, Chief Dan Ulasi, Chief Anayo Nwosu (Ikenga Ezenwegbu), Prince Engr. Chukwudi Orizu, Dr Okey Chidolue, and many other personalities.
