The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), often known as Pyrates Confraternity, has called for prompt and forceful action to put an end to the bloodshed in Plateau State.

NAS Capoon Abiola Owoaje emphasised that “The Bloodshed on the Plateau Must Stop,” expressing support for the victims and calling for the administration of justice.

Owoaje bemoaned the security architecture of Nigeria’s ongoing failure, especially the centrally administered policing system. He emphasised how criminal elements were able to operate unhindered for three days in Plateau State due to the inefficiency of joint security forces.

Citing signs of a broken state, Owoaje called attention to the pressing need for a shift in strategy. Declaring, “The Nigerian central policing system has failed, and it is time for decisive action,” he demanded the creation of a State Police.

Caleb Muftwang, the governor of Plateau State, was chastised by the NAS Capoon for his handling of the situation and was advised to follow the South-West’s lead in creating a neighbourhood vigilante group. “President Tinubu needs to take decisive action to address the senseless acts of ongoing brutality once and for all,” Owoaje said.

Underscoring the vital necessity of a thorough settlement to the herders/farmers’ dispute, Owoaje emphasised, “President Tinubu should call a sincere and open dialogue with all parties involved.”

“His decision to join the Christmas voyage to Lagos amid deep grief in Plateau represents the height of misplaced priority,” he said in closing, casting doubt on Governor Muftwang’s motives.
