37 illegitimate Universities are currently in operation in Nigeria, according to a statement made by Chris Maiyaki, Acting Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
According to Maiyaki, the Department of State Services (DSS) has been actively involved in the arrest of people connected to these illegal organisations.
Maiyaki underlined the gravity of the situation and asked parents to check the accreditation status of Nigerian universities on the commission’s website. He emphasised the possibility that students could fall prey to these illicit businesses.
