Again, Boko Haram Kill Prominent Pastor, Church Treasurer in Yobe

The terrorist organisation Boko Haram is suspected of killing prominent pastor Luka Levong of the Church of Christ in Nations in 2024 in what is thought to be their first major attack.

The tragedy happened in Geidam, Yobe State, early on Friday, January 5, 2023.

Locals told Channels TV that the church’s treasurer, Maina Abdullahi, was killed by the terrorists, who started their attack at two in the morning on Friday.

During their raid, the assailants allegedly set fire to multiple residences as well as a church. Since then, the bodies have been moved to Geidam’s Specialist Hospital.

Dungus Abdulkarim, the public relations officer for Yobe State Police, has acknowledged that he does not have all the information on the event.

He stated, “Geidam is a frontline area in the war against insurgency, and the Nigerian military should be contacted.”

With more than 150,000 people displaced in the area, Geidam is a major point in the fight against insurgency.

Furthermore, since its founding, the extremist group Boko Haram, which is located in northeastern Nigeria, is said to have caused the displacement of over 2.5 million people in addition to an estimated 50,000 deaths.
