Tension as Plateau Women Set Bokkos District Head’s Residence Ablaze

Women set fire to Michal Monday Adanchi, the district head of Bokkos town, in the state’s Bokkos Local Government Area during a protest on Friday afternoon.

According to a local source, the incident started at around 12:30 am, during which the women expressed their outrage over the arrest of local residents suspected of being involved in the recent homicides in the area.

The infuriated women set fire to the traditional ruler’s administrative office and dwelling.

“The incident began at the police station where they expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community. After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the source recounted.

As soon as they heard about the situation, soldiers moved in to restore order by scattering the women who were protesting.

DSP Alabo Alfred, the state police command’s spokeswoman, promised to get in touch with the local DPO and give the reporter information on the events as they unfolded.

It is notable that eight people were confirmed to have been arrested on Thursday by the state police command in relation to the recent attacks in the local government areas of Bokkos and Barikin Ladi.
