Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has urged all of the state’s disgruntled groups to work together to promote harmony.
Fubara underscored the significance of unity by stressing that the lack of peace could cause split within the state.
These comments align with the ongoing disagreement between Governor Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Rivers Crisis: Fubara Apologises Over Political Crisis With Wike
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, speaking on behalf of his deputy, Ngozi Odu, addressed the Ogoni Day celebration at Bori Town in Khana Council. He said, “I, therefore, want to plead with everyone to put our hands together and allow peace to prevail across the state because without peace, there will be unnecessary division.” Now, we don’t require that.
“We do not joke with all the councils in the senatorial district, in which Ogoni is a major block; therefore, bringing development here is a top priority of this administration.
“You know that we have talked about electricity and security in Ogoni land and these are top priorities of the government.“

Convener Yakubu Dauda commended them for being excellent examples of sportsmanship and Governor Siminalayi Fubara for carrying out the agreement in a way that effectively restored peace to the state.
Dauda emphasised that the governor’s actions showed great deference to President Bola Tinubu by guaranteeing that all opposing groups in the state put down their guns for the good of the Rivers people as a whole.
