Of the N217 billion set aside for the emergency repair of 260 roads connecting the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the federal government has allotted N108.5 billion.

Minister of Works David Umahi disclosed this payment on Thursday during a meeting in Abuja with all of the Ministry’s directors.

He underlined that Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure investment is demonstrated by the released monies and that there will be no room for justifications in order to guarantee comprehensive and prompt road repairs.

The construction of the Lekki Deep Seaport Road, the rehabilitation of two fallen bridges in Enugu, the resurfacing of the Third Mainland Bridge, and work on two portions of the Onitsha-Owerri Road are among the routes that would benefit from this allocation.

The dualization of the Lafia bypass and the improvement of the current Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia route are two more of the authorised road projects.

Recalling the events of October 2023, the Ministry requested permission from the Federal Government to expeditiously restore 260 severely flawed road projects around the country. Two weeks later, clearance was given by the government.

“Tinubu has approved over 260 road interventions across the 36 states and the FCT,” Umahi stated.
