UPDATE: Doyin Okupe is Political Harlot – Labour Party

The Labour Party has responded to Dr. Doyin Okupe, the former director general of the Presidential Campaign Council, who just resigned.

Okupe submitted his letter of resignation to Barrister Julius Abure, the national chairman of the party, yesterday.

He said that the party’s more conservative stance and his own identification as a leftist were the reasons behind his departure, citing ideological disagreements between the two groups.

The Labour Party responded sharply to Okupe’s letter, calling the former DG a “political harlot” who was notorious for his frequent party jumping and dismissing his charges as “excessive mischief.”

The party declared, “Okupe is aware that the Labour Party is ideologically rooted in the left of the center, and he admitted that he has been a rightist and a Liberal Democrat all his entire life, one wonders what he was looking for in a party that is diametrically opposed to his ideological leaning. What kind of political harlotry was he exhibiting by finding no qualms in jumping from one party to another with such ease.”

Furthermore, the Labour Party revealed that Okupe’s departure was expected because he is a typical example of a traditional politician who constantly changes sides.

“His exit from Labour Party is not in any way surprising to us. In a true character of traditional politicians who moves from place to another, he was in PDP, from PDP to APC and then Labour Party and we won’t be surprised if he goes back to his vomit and embrace either APC or PDP all over again. It is all about where food is ready,” the party stated.
