UPDATE: Police, Military, Invade IPOB Camp In Imo, Make Arrest

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have had their encampment razed by the Imo State Police at Ihite Owerri, in the Orlu Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State.

Henry Okoye, the state police spokesman, disclosed that the operation was executed in concert with the armed forces.

In a statement, he disclosed that during a protracted shootout with the terrorists, one suspect was taken into custody while others managed to flee with gunshot wounds.

The statement revealed that,”Following cases of kidnapping involving Mr Sabinus Ugwuebu, ‘m’, a Road Safety Officer, and HRH Eze Ohiri, former Eze Imo as victims, Police operatives in robust synergy with the Military on 08/01/2023 at about 0330hrs stormed a suspected terrorist camp at Ihite Owerri, in Orlu LGA of Imo state, and arrested one suspect, while others escaped with gunshot injuries after a protracted gunfight with the terrorists.

“A concerted investigative effort is in progress to arrest the fleeing suspects and possibly rescue the kidnapped victims. They will be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.”

Imo State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, stated that the Command will keep collaborating closely with the military and other pertinent security organisations to eradicate all types of criminal activity within the State.
