We’ll Train More People To Avoid Japa Syndrome – Tinubu to Nigerians

Bola Tinubu advised Nigerians not to worry about the notable exodus of qualified people from the nation during the inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s second term in Owerri, Imo State.

He promised that in order to close the apparent professional gap in vital fields like technology and health, the Federal Government would launch comprehensive training programmes in coordination with sub-national organisations.

Tinubu underlined the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s dedication to education and stressed that the education of children and young people is a top priority.

“You see the priority in industrialisation. Healthcare will receive more allocation and more attention.

“Don’t worry about what you are hearing about the Japa syndrome, we will train more people and we will supply them self,” he said.

In response to worries regarding the “Japa” phenomenon—a term used to describe the large-scale emigration that Nigeria has experienced, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic—Tinubu gave the populace the assurance that more people would be trained to fill the hole.

He expressed assurance that the difficulties posed by the widespread exodus of highly qualified workers would be met, reaffirming the government’s dedication to achieving self-sufficiency.

Additionally, Tinubu gave the people of the South-East guarantees, pledging better peace and greater measures to bring about stability in the area.

The “Japa” phenomenon, which is characterised by a significant exodus of young Nigerians who travel overseas in search of better job, education, and security, has resulted in a scarcity of trained labour, especially in industries like healthcare.

For individuals seeking chances abroad, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom continue to be the most popular destinations. Nigeria’s unemployment rate hit a new high of 33.3%, making the “Japa” phenomenon a noteworthy development.
