Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, also referred to as Bishop Feyi and the founder of I Reign Christian Ministry, was found guilty of raping his assistant pastor and was given a life term in jail in a historic decision made today.

Judge Rahman Oshodi preside over the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, where the verdict was rendered.

The court had carefully considered the issue, and on January 11, when the hearings on the accusations against Bishop Feyi were over, it reserved judgement.

Sections 260 (2), 262, and 263 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Laws were used by the prosecution, presenting a compelling case against the accused.

The defence, led by Mr. Fola Awonusi, argued on January 11 for the defendant’s discharge and acquittal despite the fact that the defendant entered a not guilty plea to the new four-count charge, which included rape, sexual assault, and attempted rape.

Mr. Awonusi argued that the records that were shown showed that the purported survivors had financial and malicious intentions.
