Fix Prices Of Goods, Petroleum Products – Court Orders Nigerian Govt

The Bola Tinubu administration has been given a seven-day deadline by a Federal High Court located in Ikoyi, Lagos, to fix the prices of goods and petroleum products.

Fairness Femi Falana, SAN, the applicant and human rights activist, submitted and argued the original application, which led Ambose Lewis-Allagoa to grant the order sequel.

Granting the order, the judge said, “I have heard the applicant Femi Falana in a suit no FHC/L/CS/869/2023 and I have also discovered that despite the service of the originating motion on the respondents, namely Attorney-General of the Federation and the Price Control Board, there is no opposition to it by way of counter affidavit, which is law that all the facts deposed in the affidavit attached to the originating motion are all deemed admitted.

“Consequently, all prayers that are sought for in the motion papers are hereby granted as prayed.”

The judge directed the Nigerian government to set prices for petroleum products, such as diesel, gasoline motor spirit (PMS), and kerosene, as well as goods including milk, bread, salt, sugar, bicycles and their spare parts, matches, motorbikes and their spare parts, and motor vehicles and their spare parts.
