The Pope stressed in a tweet on Sunday, February 26, the need to address these upsetting situations immediately, saying, “The increasingly frequent kidnappings in Nigeria are extremely concerning.”

The Pope’s words are made at a time when Nigeria is dealing with an upsurge in kidnappings for ransom, with reports suggesting that these crimes are becoming more common across the nation.

These issues have affected even the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as kidnappers target particular estates and border villages, leaving locals distressed and uneasy.
