Everton’s 10-point sanction for violating the Profitability and Sustainability Rules, or PSR, of the Premier League has been lowered to six after an appeal.

An independent commission sanctioned the Toffees on November 17 after it was determined that they had lost more than the allowed amount by £19.5 million over the evaluation period that concluded with the 2021–2022 season.

However, at the beginning of February, the Merseyside club made the choice to file an appeal.

Everton will now have 25 points after their punishment was reduced, which puts them five points above the bottom three and in 15th place.

“The club is also particularly pleased with the Appeal Board’s decision to overturn the original Commission’s finding that the club failed to act in utmost good faith.

“That decision, along with reducing the points deduction, was an incredibly important point of principle for the club on appeal. The Club, therefore, feels vindicated in pursuing its appeal,” an Everton statement read in part.
