The presence of Seyi and Yinka, Bola Tinubu’s two sons, in Nigeria’s official delegation to Qatar has drawn heavy criticism from the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

The CUPP leadership has voiced serious concerns about what they see to be an increase in the expense of governance brought on by an oversized delegation that includes family members.

Peter Ameh, the CUPP National Secretary, questioned the positions of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sons, Seyi and Yinka, in the official group to Qatar while speaking to reporters in Abuja.

Ameh objected to this action, saying that people with experience in negotiating advantageous agreements for Nigeria’s economy ought to have been assigned to such roles.

Ameh charged Tinubu of betraying his stated intention to save government spending while allegedly increasing it by sending a delegation that includes family members who are inexperienced in foreign policy and bilateral trade negotiations.

Concerning possible government corruption, Ameh described the state of affairs as a mishandling of public funds.

He stated, “In what capacity is Seyi Tinubu and Yinka Tinubu, sons of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, traveling to Qatar on the official list of Nigeria’s delegation?

“While Tinubu is busy deceiving Nigerians that he is serious about cutting down cost of governance, he is increasing such cost through the back door with a bloated list of dignitaries, which includes his family members.

“Slots that should have been given to professionals who are well equipped to negotiate a good deal for our collapsing economy and country are given to his children. His children have no idea or experience required in this business of international affairs and relations with bilateral trade between countries.

“This is why his government has brought more misery to the Nigerian people than any government in the history of our country. This is a clear case of mismanagement of public finances, and an obvious signs of corruption in government.”
