The 38-year-old engineer Omobayo Marvellous Godwins has been named deputy governor by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The choice was made soon after Philip Shaibu was impeached on Monday by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The conclusions of a seven-member inquiry team led by Justice S.A. Omonua served as the impetus for this action.
Justice Daniel Okungbowa, the Chief Judge of Edo State, had called the panel in response to accusations of wrongdoing made against Shaibu.

Friday marked the end of the investigation panel’s activities. Among its members were Professor Theresa Akpoghome, Oghogho Ayodele Oviasu, Surveyor Andrew Oliha, Idris Abdulkareen, President Aigbokhian, and Mariam Erakhoba Ilavbare.
Their assignment was to investigate the former deputy governor’s alleged serious wrongdoing and perjury.
Following these events, Omobayo Marvellous Godwins becomes Edo State’s deputy governor and prepares to take on duties in aid of Governor Obaseki’s government.
