According to reports, the Nigerian Army’s Operation Hadarin Daji airstrikes on Kukawa hamlet in Zamfara State’s Maradun Local Government Area are thought to have claimed many lives.
The army has denied claims of civilian casualties in spite of these reports, claiming that their operations target bandits rather than state residents who are innocent.
Kukawa village resident Musa Abubakar, who barely avoided the attack, said that last Wednesday during Eid El Fitr prayers, the Nigerian Air Force launched airstrikes that killed at least forty individuals.

He said, “We were performing the Eid El Fitr prayer when we saw a plane approaching the area.
“Immediately the plane approached the Eid praying ground, we heard a terrifying sound and everybody took to their heels
“I was one of the lucky ones who escaped unhurt but several people were killed and many others sustained various degrees of injuries.
“I lost 13 people who are my blood relations while two others.”
Another villager, who wished to remain anonymous, asserted that suspected bandits firing guns at military aircraft was the cause of the hamlet bombardment.
He said, “The aircraft was passing over the village and suddenly the bandits started shooting toward its direction

“This forced the military to drop several bombs in the village during the Eid El Fitr prayer and many people lost their lives.”
The spokeswoman for Operation Hadarin Daji, Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, stressed over the phone with Newsmen that the military’s priority is fighting bandits rather than endangering the state’s innocent civilian population.
Furthermore, he declared that he was unaware of any civilian deaths brought on by the attacks.
“We are fighting bandits, not the innocent Nigerians. I am not aware of any civilian that was killed during the operation.”
Recall that the air components of Operation Hadin Kai and Hadarin Daji conducted successful airstrikes, which were recently reported in reports. Terrorists’ plans to attack weak spots were thwarted by these strikes.
