At a town hall meeting to be held by the Coalition of Nigerian Canadian Interest Groups (CONCIG), a network of socio-economic and good governance organisations in Nigeria and Canada, will be Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Political players from Nigeria and Canada will be present at the event, which is set for Friday, May 3, 2024, to talk about issues of accountability, good governance, and mutual cooperation.

The town hall is a component of CONCIG’s endeavours to “advocate for good governance in Nigeria and Canada as well as the globe” and “initiate collaborations between the Canadian and Nigerian political stakeholders,” according to coalition head Vwede J. Obahor.

According to Obahor, the alliance aims to foster interactions and conversations between important figures in order to support nation-building in both Canada and Nigeria as Nigerians living there. He claims that additional invited individuals will be present at the occasion, such as Bassey Osagie, a previous Labour Party candidate for governor.

He went on to say that Peter Obi’s talk will focus on “Capacity Building and Inclusiveness in Governance.”

The coordinator of the coalition, Fabian N. Nwaoha, went on to say that by bringing together Canadian government officials and Nigerians living abroad, the town hall seeks to “build an alliance that will be beneficial to Nigeria and Canada.”

The event’s level of interest among Nigerians and friends of Nigeria in Canada and outside has excited the organisers, they say.
