The Federal High Court in Lagos State, businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest, has been granted bail amounting to N10 million with two sureties of equal sum. This decision follows Cubana Chief Priest’s plea of not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the nation’s currency during his trial.

Before Justice Kehinde Ogundare, Cubana Chief Priest faced three counts related to the alleged abuse of the naira, particularly through spraying and tampering with the currency at a social gathering. The court highlighted that these actions contravened the provisions outlined in the Central Bank Act of 2007. The alleged incident occurred on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel, where Cubana Chief Priest was said to have engaged in spraying the naira while dancing, specifically tampering with N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for a duration of two hours.
