Street-pop sensation Habeeb Okikiola, widely recognized as Portable, has reached out to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), pleading for leniency after facing scrutiny for his actions. This appeal comes in the wake of the recent sentencing of Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, and the legal charges against nightlife icon Cubana Chief Priest, both linked to Naira-related offenses.

Portable made his plea during an Instagram live session, expressing regret for his past actions of spraying money and vowing to cease the practice. He emphasized his desire to comply with the law, urging his fans to open bank accounts for future transactions instead of engaging in cash-related activities.

He said, “I didn’t deface the Naira.

“I help a lot of people; after God na government, please forgive me if you have videos of me spraying money, no more spraying of money.

“My fans, if I no longer spray money, after God na government, no more spraying of money.

”If it’s about money, open bank accounts, and let’s make transfers.”

The EFCC, in response to growing concerns regarding currency abuse within the entertainment industry, has confirmed ongoing investigations into several celebrities allegedly involved in similar activities.

Portable’s public appeal reflects a broader conversation surrounding accountability and responsibility within Nigeria’s entertainment sphere. As the EFCC continues its investigations, the outcomes of these cases are anticipated to shape the discourse on ethical conduct and financial integrity among public figures.
