The Chinese store in Abuja was overrun by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) due to allegations of discrimination against Nigerians.

According to a report published on Sunday by Parallel Facts, an Abuja-based Chinese supermarket is coming under fire after it was allegedly found to have refused admission to Nigerian consumers, citing the establishment’s exclusive status for Chinese nationals.

Another eyewitness, Tosin Olugbenga, claimed in a since-deleted video posted to his X account that he went to the grocery after seeing an advertisement for it online.

But when he arrived at the door, he was told by security guards that the place was only open to Chinese patrons, and they refused to let him in.

The supermarket’s gate remains closed as of the time of this report, but rumours have it that some people are sheltering inside to avoid conflict with the agency.
