African Leaders Unite to Combat Terrorism: The Abuja Declaration

 

In a landmark gathering, African leaders, alongside Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Defence, National Security Advisors, and representatives of regional organizations and the UN, converged in Abuja for a crucial mission: to confront the scourge of terrorism gripping the continent. At the heart of this historic assembly lay the Abuja Declaration, a pivotal document crafted to chart a course towards enhanced regional cooperation and institution-building to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism in Africa.

The High-Level African Counter-Terrorism Meeting, spanning two days, served as the platform for the unveiling of this significant declaration. Spearheaded by Major General Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the event resonated with a unified commitment to combat terrorism at its roots.
