Indigenes, Non-Indigenes in Abia will be Treated Equally – Alex Otti

Native Abians and non-Native Abians living in Abia State will not be divided under Governor Alex Otti’s direction, he promised.

He stated that regardless of a person’s place of birth, his administration places a high value on competency and what each person can provide the state.

At a Thanksgiving ceremony held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia, he offered these comments to commemorate one year in office.

“I think what is most important is also that this administration does not discriminate, we don’t even want to know what part of Abia you’re coming from.

“We don’t even want to know what part of Igboland you come from. Once you reside here (in Abia), you are a part of us.

“That is why today, we have for the first time a Permanent Secretary, who does not come from Abia State, who does not come from any state in the South East but comes from Edo state,” Governor Otti stated.

After announcing earlier that his administration would not be celebrating its one-year anniversary, Otti has now revealed plans for a massive multi-billion naira terminal project that will combine all of the vehicle parks and a train station into one place in Umuahia.

Tuesday is the day the inauguration ceremony is supposed to happen.

Otti, highlighting Umuahia’s change from what he formerly called a simple village, promised, within the next year, a complete overhaul of the city’s infrastructure, including the expansion of the railway from Aba.

He asked the people of Abia to keep praying and supporting him, reiterating his administration’s resolve to stick to its values in the face of criticism from the opposition.

Reverend Uma Onwunta of the Presbyterian Church preached during a thanksgiving service, stressing the significance of thankfulness in God’s eyes.
