Musiliudeen Akinremi, the two-term House of Representatives member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has passed away at the age of 51. Akinremi, fondly known as Jagaban, died on Wednesday under still unclear circumstances.

A close associate, Akin Adewale, confirmed the news on X, expressing his sorrow, “We lost Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the NASS. This is really sad. Ah, God.”

The House of Representatives spokesman, Akin Rotimi, also confirmed Akinremi’s death, quoting Speaker Tajudeen Abbas who expressed deep sadness over the loss. Abbas highlighted Akinremi’s role as Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions and praised his dedication to his constituency and the nation.

“Until his demise, the Oyo legislator was a dedicated public servant known for his unwavering commitment to the development of his constituency and the country at large. His passion for service, coupled with his deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of his people, earned him the endearing title of ‘Jagaban,’” the statement read.

Throughout his tenure, Akinremi was a staunch advocate for policies promoting social welfare, economic growth, and scientific research.
