WE WERE MARGINALIZED BY OUR OWN SON, OKOROCHA’S KINSMEN TELL IHEDIOHA

OWERRI- Governor Rochas Okorocha’s kinsmen have appealed to the Imo State Governor-elect, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, to “look kindly on our people, as Ideato South local government area truly suffered huge neglect in the past eight years “.

Similarly, representatives of the South East Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Elders Council, also appealed to Ihedioha, “to take a holistic review of the collateral damage done to IMO people’s psyche and state’s economy and work out sound ways to address then” Leaders of the delegations,

Dr. Rufus Omeire and Senator Ben Obi made the appeals when they paid a courtesy call on Ihediha at the weekend, in Owerri.

Dr. Omeire explained that they were on the visit to not only congratulate Ihedioha but to also inform the incoming Governor of the deprivations they passed through, in the hands of their brother.

“It will be hard to believe, but the greater percentage of Ideato South people suffered serious deprivations in the hands of our brother. We are pleased that the outgoing governor did not actualize his intent of foisting his son-in-law on Imo people”, Omeire said. Supporting Dr. Omeire’s position, a former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ben Obinali, said that “most of the communities in the area were completely neglected by the Okorocha administration”.

The delegates included Mr. Geoffrey Omeire, Mr. Bonaventure Ogbulie, Chief Tony Anyaegbu, Ifeanyi Okwara, Stanley Dike and a host of others.

Speaking on behalf of the South East PDP Elders Council, Senator Ben Obi appealed that the damage done to the people’s psyche and the state’s economy must be redressed.

“We are happy with IMO people and certainly, with you on board, Imo will be liberated from the clutches of intimidation, high handedness and government of a family, by a family and for a family”, Senator Obi said.

He reminded Ihedioha that “in the circumstance the people have found themselves, there is a lot of work to be done in the state”. Responding, Chief Ihedioha said: “Expectations are very high.

The people’s victory is being celebrated across the country and that is the challenge facing me. The difficulties we have as a state, in the past seven or eight years, is before us. “We have had the misfortune of having an unfortunate government. We have lost focus as a state.

The arms of government also function in breach of the dictates of our Constitution. I have a responsibility to restore order in Imo and bring our state back to life”, Chief Ihedioha promised.
