The Nnewi Youth Forum has expressed their appreciation to major political parties in Nnewi North LGA, especially the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Young Progressive Party (YPP) for choosing the chairmanship candidates and majority of the Councillorship candidates of their respective parties from the forum ahead of the Sept. 28th local government elections in Anambra State.

The forum through a statement released from the office of the President of the Forum, Hon Ejim Ucheagwu after the general meeting of the forum held on Sunday, 22nd September at Igwe Nnewi Palace stated that this was in line with a resolution passed at the July meeting of the forum calling on political parties to ensure the emergence of their candidates from the membership of the forum as there abound in all parties members of the forum with rich pedigree and strong antecedents running for various offices.

The release further stated that the the President Hon. Ejim, has at different occasions highlighted on the need for candidates to remain issues based in their various campaign activities while also reminding them of the need to remain conscious of their status as members of Nnewi Youth Forum in their dealings as candidates as only one of them would be returned elected for various offices in contention during local government area next Saturday.

The president noted that both Hon. Paul Moneke JP. (YPP), immediate past president , Hon. Echezona Anazodo (APGA), the immediate past assistant secretary of the forum are worthy brothers and high profile members of Nnewi Youth forum and as expected, supporters must desist from using derogatory remarks on any of them.

The forum will not tolerate the victimizations of any form for our members as restraint and caution must be applied by commentators in analysing the candidates, hence, we will move into actions, using the instrumentality of our huge human resources to protect the rights of our members during the contest,the president stated.

On the part of the candidates; the President, Hon. Ejim Ucheagwu yet again, reminded them of the many years of our struggles for a youthful takeover of governance at the grassroot level and therefore, admonished that whomsoever that emerges from the polls on Saturday should not attempt to sabotage the forum through poor performance, rather, the winner must show capacity and improve the lives of the common man in Nnewi through developmental policies.

The meeting also had in attendance the Nnewi North Cordinator of 1Youth2Skills,Miss Adaobi Chibueze, who spoke on the importance of the program and the need for members of the forum to key in fully.

Finally,the President, on behalf of Nnewi Youth Forum, presented a cheque for logistics support to both the APGA Chairmanship candidate,Hon Echezona Anazodo and YPP chairmanship candidate,Hon Paul moneke JP and urged members to make the right choice come next Saturday.

Soludo Playing Politics With Security Because of Second Term – IPOB

Governor Charles Soludo received a warning on Wednesday from the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, to quit tampering with the state’s security.

This is as IPOB accused Soludo of being desperate for a second term, hence his choice to cave to pressure from ‘Fulani hegemony’.

IPOB bemoaned the “nefarious activities of the Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen in Anambra State, especially within Dunukofia, Awka North, South, Orumba North, and South Local Government Areas is unbecoming” in a statement released by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful.

Anambra State citizens were urged by IPOB to take a stand against all types of insecurity in their state.

“All well-meaning people of Anambra should RISE UP NOW! and stop Arthur Eze before he turns Anambra State into a slaughterhouse just like Southern Kaduna.

“We are also warning the Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his government to stop playing politics with the security of Anambra indigenes and Biafra people.

“Gov. Soludo must stop the likes of Arthur Eze from endangering Anambrans for his selfish economic interests. We remind Gov. Soludo that politics for a second term must not be played with the lives of Anambra residents.

Anambra 2021: Man Allegedly Opens Up On How They Rigged Election For Soludo

Anthony Onuoha, a suspect detained by the Ebonyi State police command on Thursday for alleged auto theft, admitted to working with over 30 election riggers during last year’s Anambra election in favor of Prof. Charles Soludo.

Onuoha, who was presented with other defendants, claimed they were hired by a man named Uche General to rig the governorship election for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA.

The suspect said that after the election, they were handed a car and 50,000 naira.

Soludo Terminates Road Contract Over Alleged Incompetence By Contractor

According to him: “Last year November, a car was given to me after governor Soludo’s election, because I was involved as one of the 30 persons that were kept in one place to work for APGA. We were promised to be given a car and fifty thousand naira after the election.

“What attracted me to work for APGA was the car and not the fifty thousand naira. I went to Anambra State that November; I was picked by one Mr. Uche General, I don’t know his surname. Uche General was the one in charge of the section.”

“The role I played there was that we were kept at Awka North to thumbprint ballot papers on that day of the election. We thumb-printed for APGA governorship candidate, Charles Soludo, and we agreed that at the end of the day, we will be given a car and fifty thousand naira, which they did.

“We are nine persons that were given a car out of over thirty persons that were hired for the job. This car was given to me by them and the fifty thousand naira to fuel it,” he alleged.

However, in a rapid response, Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo, speaking to Newsmen through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, said the suspect, Onuoha, should face the wrath of the law.

During the recent Anambra State election, Soludo denied any collusion with the suspect.

According to him: “The police should take full wrath of the law against the suspect. We don’t know him, he is just telling lies to get off the hook. He is a common criminal and nobody knows him. Moreover, it was BVAS that was used during that last year election in Anambra State. So, where did they do the thumbprinting?

“We don’t know him. We don’t know who he is. He must be a criminal and that is why he is in the police net. APGA won an election that was declared the most free and fair election in Nigeria.”

“There was no such thumbprinting in that Anambra election. It was BVAS that INEC deployed in that election. We don’t know that guy, the governor of Anambra State does not know him. George Moghalu, an All Progressive Congress Chieftain in Anambra State has hailed the judgement of the Federal High Court, for its ruling on a suit challenging the candidancy of Senator Andy Uba.

Anaedoonline.ng reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja had on Monday, nullified Senator Andy Uba’s and the All Progressive Congress’s participation in the last November 6 governorship election held in Anambra State.

Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo, in the judgment, held that Uba was never a candidate in the election having emerged from an illegally conducted primary election by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

‘APC Didn’t Hold Valid Anambra Governorship Primaries’ : Court Cancels Andy Uba Candidacy

Justice Ekwo held that the plaintiff, George Moghalu succeeded in proving that the APC did not conduct a valid primary election from which Uba claimed to have emerged as the party’s candidate.

The judge ordered INEC to delete Uba from its record as a candidate in the election and as well as ordered the APC to refund to the plaintiff the N22,500.000 he paid for expression of interest and nomination forms since the party failed to conduct a valid primary..

However, Moghalu while reacting to the verdict of the high court in a press statement issued by the Director of his Campaign Organization, Arch Okey Chukwuogo, on Tuesday, described the verdict of the court against Andy Ubah as a clear vindication of the wishes and prayers of the entire members of the party in the state.

The ex-National Auditor of the governing APC also said the judgement was long expected and a vindication of the lamentations of the members of the party over the imposition of an unpopular candidate on the party.

Moghalu posited that Senator Uba has no locus to go to the tribunal to challenge the victory of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo who won the gubernatorial election, and also insisted thàt that the concluded polls was riddled with irregularities.

His words, “the judgement is expected because nobody sees illegality and calls it legal and fair is fair and it is good to take what belongs to everyone?

“I will be surprised if he goes to the appeal court and what are you appealing for when it is clear that no primary election was conducted in Anambra APC and by the judgement it means that Andy Uba was not a candidate in the said election.

“He has no locus to go to the election petitions tribunal to challenge the victory of the APGA candidate that win the election which he was not part of and he did not participate in.

The Anambra governorship election petitions tribunal has relocated its sittings from Awka to Ilorin in Kwara.

Mr Surajo Gusau, Secretary of the tribunal, disclosed this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka via telephone on Tuesday.

Gusau said that the movement took place on Dec. 17 saying that the tribunal had already settled down in Ilorin.

Anambra Election: Soludo Dragged To Tribunal By Eleven (11) Political Parties

He, however, did not disclose the reasons for the relocation, saying it was based an administrative directive.

Gusau said that the tribunal was handling 12 cases apart from the one filed by Accord Party which was withdrawn on December 9.

The tribunal was set up to handle petitions arising from the Anambra governorship poll, won by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Anambra governorship election, Senator Andy Uba, says his candidacy is legal and constitutional.

He added that the APC primaries which saw him emerge as the party’s governorship candidate in the November 6 election remain valid.

Uba made this known in a statement issued on Monday by the spokesman of the Senator Andy Uba Governorship Organisation (SAUGCO), Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia.

According to Onyia, Uba and the APC will appeal the judgment, adding that the court decision was not in the best interest of the Anambra people.

Onyia argued that the plans by APGA against Andy Uba and APC will fail, saying the judgement will stop the APC candidate from proving his petition at the tribunal.

He said, “While we remain law-abiding in the face of the latest development, It is rather not surprising to many that the APGA members could turn themselves as the spokespersons of the Federal High Court with their tented report about the judgment and abuse of our party, APC with a view to blur and distort this grave miscarriage of justice because they(APGA) are to be the direct beneficiaries of judgement.

“The APGA part in this script appears very glaring. Of course, they are aware that they have a bad case in the tribunal and are doing everything possible to take Andy Uba and APC out from the tribunal, but they will fail.

“We are not surprised that APGA members are celebrating the Justice Ekwo judgement like a child that received Christmas clothe from his father. They believe that the judgement will stop Andy Uba from proving his petition at the tribunal. The good thing is that this is not the last court in this instant. We are heading to appeal court to prove them wrong.”

Anaedoonline.ng earlier reported that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, had ruled that Senator Andy Uba is not a valid candidate of the APC for the 2021 Anambra governorship election held on November 6.

The court in a ruling on Monday by the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo said the APC didn’t conduct a valid primary election.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, on Monday mocked Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress as a Federal High Court in Abuja nullified the ruling party’s governorship primary in Anambra State, ruling that Uba’s emergence as the winner was illegal.

APGA National Chairman, Victor Oye, in a chat with Newsmen, hailed the court’s decision and praised the judiciary for showing courage in the face of adversity and intimidation by members of the party of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Oye said Uba made his “worst mistake” by failing to accept that APGA’s Chukwuma Soludo won the November 6 Anambra State Governorship Election, and threatened to go on with legal action challenging the electoral process.

He said, “It was the right decision by the court in the face of the absurdities that occurred during the APC governorship primary in Anambra State.

“The worst mistake Andy Uba made was not to have accepted defeat after the November 6, 2021 election adjudged by the whole world as free, fair and credible.

“So, we are glad that the Nigerian judiciary has continued to show courage and fairness in the face of adversity.”

Anaedoonline.ng had earlier reported that Soludo, 61, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, won 19 out of the 21 local governments in Anambra State during the keenly contested governorship election.

He won with 112,229 votes beating Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 53,807 votes, and Uba of the ruling APC who got 43,285 votes and failed to clear any local government while Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party polled 21,261 votes came fourth during the poll.

Uba, who did not concede defeat while other top candidates did so, had also faulted the election which he claimed was marred by electoral malpractices, and that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were incompetent. He had also said he would challenge the outcome at the tribunal.

But ruling on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Abuja court ruled that Uba was never a candidate in the election having emerged from an illegally conducted primary election.

Justice Ekwo added that the plaintiff, George Moghalu, succeeded in proving that the APC did not conduct a valid primary election from which Uba claimed to have emerged as the party’s candidate.

The court also ordered INEC to delete Uba from its record as a candidate in the election and ordered the APC to refund to Moghalu, the sum of N22.5m which is the amount he paid for expression of interest and nomination forms since the party failed to conduct a valid primary.

At the direct primary which has now been annulled, Uba scored 230,000 votes but only managed to garner some 43,000 votes at the main election which was won APGA’s Soludo.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra governorship election, Andy Uba, has revealed that he has enough evidence to prove that the exercise was rigged.

Uba made this known through the Deputy Director of his campaign organization, Ikechukwu Onyia, in an interview with Newsmen.

Onyia stated that the APC candidate will not withdraw his petition from the election tribunal because the election was characterised by electoral malpractices, adding that his votes at some places like Abatete and Oba in Idemili North were not recorded.

He submitted that the declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Charles Soludo as the winner of the election was wrong and should be reversed.

The APC chieftain added that Uba’s determination to diligently pursue his petition is propelled by his genuine desire to use the instrumentality of government to set new development agenda for the state.

He said, “It is pertinent to emphasise for the umpteenth time that Senator Uba’s determination to diligently pursue his petition is propelled by his genuine desire to use the instrumentality of government to set new development agenda for the state and prove that Anambra can be better than what it currently is under APGA’s 16 years watch.

“We hope to prove our petition before the court. We have enough evidence to prove that INEC declared Soludo the governor-elect in error or deliberate attempt to deceive the general public.

“Therefore, in line with his earlier stand that there are valid grounds to challenge the results declared by INEC, Uba will go on with his petition at the tribunal challenging INEC’s declaration of Soludo as the governor-elect.

“Like some people are saying, ‘Anambra is not Imo’ because of the Supreme Court intervention, but they have forgotten that before Imo, court had removed two governors and APGA benefitted.

“Court removed Ngige and APGA benefited, court removed Uba, 17 days of being sworn in, not because Uba’s election was fraudulent, but because court said Peter Obi’s tenure has not elapsed; again, APGA benefited. So, before Imo, APGA had benefited in the removal of two governors in Anambra.

“The victims of the judgments did not kill themselves. So, if after judicial interrogation and they found out that Uba’s petition has merit, they should declare him and give him judgment, APGA will tow the same line Uba and Ngige did when they lost.”

Onyia, however, commended the tribunal’s ruling granting the inspection of the Certified True Copy of the materials used in the election.

Accord Party Candidate, Maduka Withdraws Petition Against Soludo From Court

Candidate of the Accord Party in Anambra State in the just concluded governorship election in the state, Dr. Godwin Maduka has withdrawn a petition he filed against the victory of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the governorship elect.

Soludo who contested under the camp of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, swept his opponents from the other parties to emerge Anambra State Governor.

The victory of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the peaceful polls was, however, challenged by at least 11 other party candidates.

Maduka who had through his lawyer, Mr. N.D. Agu earlier challenged Soludo’s victory, however, filed an application, praying the tribunal to strike out the matter on the grounds that he was no longer interested in the petition.

The three-member tribunal consisting of Justice B. Mohammed, Justice Edem Akpan and Justice O.H. Oyajimi accordingly struck out the petition.

Agu submitted that though he duly filed the petition, none of the respondents was served, arguing that consequently and in pursuant to order 56, rule 2 subparagraph 1 of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure rules of 2019, which he supported with an application, the petition should be struck out because the petitioner was no longer interested in the petition.

However, the tribunal has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to allow both Soludo and Uba to inspect the election materials in the company of the police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Anaedoonline.ng understands that Counsel to Soludo and INEC, Mr. S.I Ezeokenwa had earlier prayed the tribunal to allow joint inspection of the election materials which the tribunal granted.

Eleven political parties and their candidates have filed petitions challenging the victory of the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Charles Soludo in the November 6 governorship election at the Ananbra governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Awka.

The petitioners were able to beat the deadline of 21 days as stipulated by the Electoral Act. Secretary of the tribunal, Mr. Surajo Gusau said the political parties filed the petitions between Monday and Tuesday at a time there were no signs that some of the candidates who contested the election would challenge its outcome at the election petition tribunal.

Anambra: Court Delivers Verdict On Suit Seeking To Disqualify Soludo

Those whose petitions are with the tribunal include Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who is calling for a declaration that he won majority of the valid votes cast in the said election, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and its candidate, Prince Adam Ume-Ezeoke who prayed the tribunal to nullify the election on the grounds that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, used in the election is not contained in the Electoral Act and that the malfunctioning of BVAS disenfranchised over ninety percent of the registered voters.

Also the candidate of the Accord (A), Dr Godwin Maduka and his party called for the nullification of the election on the ground of irregularities, while the United Patriots, UP, petitioned the tribunal on the grounds of wrongful exclusion of the party’s name from the ballot and called for the nullification of the election. Other parties that filed petitions include the Green Party and the Action People’s Party APP.

The three-man panel of tribunal Judges are expected to arrive Anambra State early next week to begin sitting.

APGA React As Rumour of Soludo Defecting To APC Emerge

Speaking on the development in Awka, the Special Adviser to Governor Wille Obiano on Political Matters, Chief Ifeatu Obiokoye said his party, APGA, was not losing sleep over the petitions.

“We shall take it as it comes and we are not losing sleep over those petitions. We do not lose sight of the game plan of a particular party and its candidate who is sponsoring some lesser political parties to go to tribunal and later withdraw from the suits and collapse into their benefactor at the end of the day. Our party, APGA, won the election and we are prepared to defend our mandate at the tribunal,” he said.
