Purge Imo Of Criminals, IGP Charges Men
On Tuesday, the state’s Inspector General of Police, Baba Alkali, directed security operatives to eliminate the state’s “enemies.”
The IGP, who delivered the charge at the state government House while inaugurating the armored personnel carriers procured by the state government to aid in the fight against banditry, stated that the state was strategic in the South-East zone’s economy.
Alkali stated that the purchase of APCs would boost morale among his men in their fight against criminals in the state.
He said that his office was always ready to collaborate with the state government to get the state rid of criminal elements in the state.
“With utmost professionalism and absolute synergy among security agencies in the fight against criminality, the people believe unwarranted attacks by criminals will soon be brought to the bearest in Imo State,” he said.
The state governor, Hope Uzodimma, said that his administration was committed to the security and prosperity of the state.
Uzodiinma said, “Although security is in the exclusive list of the Federal Government, the reality is that all tiers of government must synergize to ensure the protection of property and lives of the citizenry. Since the inception of my administration, I have always worked with the federal government and the security agencies to ensure that Imo Stare is safe for our people, residents, and visitors.
“Therefore, what we are doing today is not a coincidence but a deliberate and sustainable effort aimed at enhancing the capacity of the police to execute their constitutional law enforcement mandate.
“You will recall that shortly after I assumed office, I procured more than 100 patrol vehicles equipped with modern communication gadgets for the police and other security agencies to help them fight crime and criminality in the state. We followed that up with the donation of the first set of Armoured Personnel Carriers.
“Today, on behalf of the state government, I am presenting for the commissioning and immediate deployment of additional 10 numbers of Armoured Personal Carriers and other vehicles to further strengthen the effectiveness of the police force in the state. This latest donation has been necessitated by the fact that the police have become targets of attacks across the country, including here in Imo State. They are intended to protect the Police from such heartless attacks, to enable them to protect us.

“Conscious of the fact that the price of peace is eternal vigilance, it is only fit and proper that we should provide the police with the necessary equipment to maintain the peace we need.
“As I have always said, there can be no development without peace. Let me reiterate the fact that the government under my watch will do all we can to protect the lives and property of all citizens and residents of Imo state. I am aware that the sponsors of insecurity in the state are not tired of trying to make the state ungovernable for us.
“They continue to deploy every instrument at their disposal, including sheer blackmail, propaganda which they easily spread via Social Media to misinform and incite the public against my administration. They even went as far as trying to set the state against the federal government and other ethnic groups by engaging in all manner of propaganda. But, they will continue to fail because they do not mean well to the people, and the victory of good over evil is always assured.
“Those who will stop at nothing, including shedding the blood of innocent citizens, to get to power must know that they will be held accountable for their evil deeds either here on earth or hereafter. Let me, therefore, use this auspicious occasion to once again call on such people to always remember that the need to secure the collective peace of Imo people should always come before our personal ambitions. They should give peace a chance it deserves.
“As the Governor of the state, let me assure the good people of Imo state that I will continue to do my utmost best to ensure that Imo remains safe for everyone, including investors. I hereby reiterate my appeal to our youths to shun violence in any form and embrace the empowerment programmes of the state government. Always remember crime does not pay. Don’t ever allow any politician to use you for his selfish purposes.
“To our security agencies, especially the police, the state government under my watch will continue to make your jobs easier. As you continue to diligently and gallantly serve the country, always know that you are not alone.”

IPOB Reacts To Arrest Of 30 Criminals, Carnibals From Imo, Anambra Forests
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alleged that the suspected cult members and other criminals arrested by security operatives recently in Anambra and Imo states are working for Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.
The group tasked security agents to let the law take its full course against criminals but added that innocent persons should be released.
According to a statement by the IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, which was obtained by newsmen on Thursday, the cultists are being sponsored to implicate its members.
It partly read, “The attention of the global family of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great prophet and indefatigable liberator Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, has been drawn to media reports about a camp of criminals and cultists busted by security agents in Orsumoghu, Anambra State; and Orsuihiteukwu in Orlu, Imo State.
“These cultists arrested in these camps are certainly the monsters created by the Supreme Court Administrator in Imo State, Hope Uzodinma to demonise our gallant ESN (Eastern Security Network) operatives.
“These vampires have been impersonating ESN operatives and terrorising many communities in Biafran land.
“The Imo State Supreme Court Administrator Hope Uzodinma and APC (All Progressives Congress) party created these vampires thinking they can demonise ESN and IPOB but unfortunately the monsters turned against the innocent people of Biafra.
The Enugu state Police arrested 35 suspected criminals in Enugu
“Nemesis has caught up with them, the same way their sponsors will soon meet their Waterloo and Biafra land will be rid of them!”
IPOB also denied claims that the arrested persons are members of its militia arm, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Powerful also mentioned some names of some suspected criminals allegedly perpetrating acts of criminality in the South-East region, adding that they will soon be dealt with.
“Those arrested by joint security forces are not ESN members. They are Hope Uzodinma’s boys who he created to demonise IPOB and ESN operatives. For record purposes, ESN does not indulge in criminality or write letters to people or make calls to people, requesting funds.
“IPOB and ESN have no dealings with criminal activities of these criminals as they are also on ESN watch list. But security (operatives) must investigate thoroughly and free the innocent people who were victims of their invasion and arrest. Not all are the perpetrators of this crime, some are criminals while some are not, let the law take its cause on those found guilty.
Crush IPOB, ESN Members In South East – IGP Adamu’s Last Message Before Bowing Out
“The IPOB leadership wishes to draw the attention of the good people of Biafra, especially in the affected communities in Anambra and Imo states that through intelligence we have uncovered some other impostors using ESN to unleash mayhem on our people.
“Some of them include Emmanuel aka (Obereagu); Innocent Obiekee from Isingwu Orsumoghu; Izuchukwu from Amaduru Orsumoghu; Ofordie aka Baby.”
The group alleged that the people indulge in kidnapping, carjacking, cannibalism and rape.
“We assure the affected communities in Orsumoghu, Orsuihiteukwa, Awo Idemili, Orlu LGA, Nnewi South LGA, Nnempi, Ibiasoegbe, Lilu Town and other communities being terrorised by these hoodlums and miscreants to stay calm, that normalcy will return to their communities soon,” the statement added.

Imo Govt Says, No More Amnesty For Criminals
Imo State Government has said that it would no longer grant any form of amnesty to criminal elements in the state as was done by the immediate-past administration of Chief Rochas Okorocha.
Deputy Governor of Imo state, Hon. Gerald Irona who gave the warning while addressing leaders of Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta at a stakeholders meeting at Oguta Civic Centre.
He further warned that criminals granted amnesty by the last administration were on the watch list of the state government and could have their amnesty revoked, if they got involved in criminality.
Speaking on the first stakeholders meeting with people of the area, Irona explained that the meeting was non-partisan, aimed at consulting and briefing the people on the activities and programmes of the government, in line with the campaign promises of the governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.
“We shall not give amnesty to anyone. Those of them given amnesty are on our watch list. If they get involved in any form of criminality, we shall withdraw the amnesty. This meeting is not partisan, but a meeting of stakeholders of Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta.”
He lamented what he described as politicization of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) by previous administrations in the state, reiterating the determination of the administration of Chief Emeka Ihedioha to return the commission to the oil landlords in the state.
Speaking on funding of the commission, the deputy governor stressed: “I have extracted commitment from our leader and governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha that ISOPADEC shall receive full funding, as provided by the law establishing it.”
“The state government has released all the monies meant for local governments to them. ISOPADEC has received its funds in full. Our people should hold the chairmen and ISOPADEC leadership to account.”
The governor has demonstrated faith by releasing the funds, as promised.”
Speaking on electricity supply, the deputy governor lamented that most communities in the two local government areas have been without electricity for about eight years, assuring that the state government was doing its best to restore power supply in the areas before the end of the year.

He further used the occasion to explain the reasons behind the introduction of an advisory committee for the commission, describing its members as non-partisan.
Hon. Irona used the occasion to call on communities willing to donate land to the state government for agricultural purposes to contact the office of the deputy governor for further discussions.
He also used the occasion to urge traditional rulers in the area to take full responsibility for all government infrastructure in their domain.
The deputy governor frowned at a sponsored publication in one of the national dailies, wherein Imo State was said not to be entitled to the position of the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), describing it as toxic.
Meanwhile, in a 19-point communiqué issued after the meeting, stakeholders resolved to refute the advertorial on page 26 of Vanguard newspapers, with the false claim that Imo State should not produce a managing director for the NDDC.
They argued that it was the turn of Imo State to produce the managing director of NDDC, agreeing to take steps to advance an advocacy towards achieving same.
Stakeholders poured encomiums on the administration of Chief Ihedioha and his Irona, for what they described as inclusive governance, assuring them of total support.
Highlights of the meeting were the formal presentation of the new leadership of ISOPADEC, Adapalm Nigeria Limited, as well as the ISOPADEC Advisory Committee.
The meeting was attended by very important dignitaries, among whom were Prof. Okee Okoro, Sir Mike Okiro, former Inspector General of Police, Engr. John Otti, former Chairman, Presidential Taskforce on Power, General Kalu Egwuagu (Rtd), Prof. Ike Azogu, Hon. Hilary Eberendu, Chairman, Interim Management Committee, Oguta LGA, Hon. Damian Ezeru, Chairman, Interim Management Committee, Ohaji/Egbema LGA and Engr. Anthony Okwuosha, Managing Director, Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission-ISOPADEC, among others.
