Two Nigerian students, Angela Odiete and Oludolapo Olanrewaju, have been recognized among the top 30 students in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Management sector in New Zealand. Their outstanding performance also earned them a spot among the top 10 students in construction management in the country.
As a reward for their achievements, Odiete and Olanrewaju have been granted an all-expenses-paid trip to Christchurch, New Zealand. There, they will participate in a three-day client brief challenge, aiming to devise innovative solutions to pressing industry issues. The competition promises a grand prize of $10,000 for the winning team.
The event, organized by Brandz, was announced on LinkedIn, highlighting the selection of 30 top students for the 2024 edition of ArchEngBuild. “The students will compete in teams to solve a real-world building and construction challenge – with a winning prize of $10,000,” Brandz stated.
Participants from nine tertiary institutions across Aotearoa have converged in Ōtautahi Christchurch for this intense competition. The students, representing the University of Canterbury, Unitec, The University of Auckland, Otago Polytechnic | Te Pūkenga, Auckland University of Technology, Ara Institute of Canterbury, Victoria University of Wellington, WelTec, and the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki, began their journey with insights from industry experts and a tour of the Tūranga Central Library.
Currently, these aspiring professionals are working diligently in teams of three to tackle a real-world building and construction challenge, showcasing their skills and creativity in hopes of winning the prestigious prize.
