FRSC, VIO, Others To Sensitize Tricycle Operators On Traffic Offences

AWKA, ANAMBRA-Inline to curb the high rate of traffic offences by road users, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Vehicle Inspection Operation (VIO) and Anambra State Traffic Management Agency (ATMA) under the state Ministry of Transport are collaborating with Unified Tricycle Owners and Riders (UTORASS), to organize a seminar to sensitized Four Thousand, five hundred (4,500) tricycle operators on traffic offences in Anambra state in the three senatorial districts starting with Anambra North senatorial zone, at Onitsha.

This was contained in a statement issued to reporters in Awka the state capital by the state chairman, (UTORASS), Anambra chapter, Sylvester Obiora. According to him, “The seminar will expose the participants to knowledge acquisition on road safety, road traffic signs, rules on use of the road, and unwholesome bad habit while driving in order to reduce road accidents.

Obiora noted that the UTORASS is collaborating with the above agencies to issue security tag as a means of identification of genuine tricycle riders and owners in the state in order to have a full list of members and check unwholesome activities of infiltrators and bad elements among others.

Obiora who was newly-inaugurated as UTORASS chairman in the state, a few months ago, emphasized that his leadership came on board due to infighting, cultism, illegal and multiple collections of revenues and tolls by some suspected thugs.

He enjoined operators in the state to abide by government directives, assuring that the present leadership and government will put their interests and welfare in the front-burner.
